Friends Boys School, Ramallah, Palestine or West Bank

The Friends School in Ramallah/ El- Bireh has been founded in 1869 for the purposes of offering Palestinian youth a rigorous academic program guided by the principles of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The school has two campuses, a coeducational lower school (historic Friends Girls School) and a coeducational upper school (historic Friends Boys School). The Friends School has not only emphasized academic rigor in its curriculum, but it has also placed an importance on students’ holistic development. The School encourages students to have a responsibility to their society, and promotes Quaker principles of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, service, tolerance, and equality. In partnership with the owners, Friends United Meeting, of Richmond, Indiana, the Friends School is governed by a local Board of Trustees. The Friends School is licensed by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and the Upper School is accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization to implement the Diploma and the Middle Years Programs
